FEMALE PELVIC MUSCLES AND ORGANS



USES:

This model is designed as an aid to the teaching of anatomy of female pelvis in medical institutes. It facilitates the students or clinical workers to get an integral knowledge of various important structures, such as pelvic muscles, fasciae and pelvic organs as a whole.

DEMONSTRATION:

1. Perineal region:

a. The urogenital diaphragm, with muscles between superior and inferior fasciae of urogenital diaphragm.

b. Bulb of vestibule, greater vestibular glands and clitoris.

c. Superficial perineal muscles: M. bulbocavernosus, M. ischiocavernosus and

M.transversus perineal superficialis, superficial perineal fascia.

d. Labium minus, external orifices of urethra and vagina, etc.

2. Pelvic muscles:

a. Pelvic floor and ligaments: MM. coccygei and levator ani.

b. Side wall of pelvis: M. obturator internus, M. piriformis.

c. Ligaments: sacrospinous and sacrotuberous ligaments, obturator membrane.

3. Pelvic organs:

Ovary, uterine tube, uterus and vagina. Uterus with the ligament teres and the root of broad ligament. Urinary bladder in front of uterus, rectum behind it. Anal orifice surrounded by sphineter ani externus, and with ischiorectal fossa on each side.
